I look forward to this time of the year...well all year!

| As much as I may not like the cold, the first snowfall is so beautiful, and I can't picture Christmas without it being "white." This is the view from my desk at work. |
I try to not wish days away, but there is something magical about the holidays! The music, the decorations, the stories, and family.
The season always starts around thanksgiving. NO not just because once it is over we can start celebrating Christmas.
This was the first time, I can remember, that we have had a small Thanksgiving with just my mom, Josh, Hannah, Kage and I. The rest of our family was out of town and if felt weird, but at the same time was so nice.
This was also the first time I got to contribute to the meal, its not big but, Josh and I were pretty excited about it.
My mom and I also ran a little turkey trot and got third in our age division so we won HUGE pies!
ANYWAY....
There is just something new about the holidays being a wife and in our own home. I always thought that Christmas magic was amplified when you get to celebrate with little children, (which is still true), but getting to set up my own home, and my own tree made Christmas a little more special for me.
This was my Christmas project this year.
I just found wooden letters at Hobby Lobby, bought sparkly spray paint and spray painted my heart out. I picked out my ribbon and "wood-stapled" the letters down.....easy easy...and I have to say I came up with it without pinterest help...which is rare for me these days:)
Joshuas games are going well, he was the xojo player of the game last weekend! I was so proud of him but, we had a really tough loss to the Utes that night so it was a bummer at the same time, but that's all we are going to say about that! We start conference play once Christmas is over and we are looking forward to that. Hopefully we will have some big wins against some of our big names like St. Mary's and Gonzaga.
(the shirts we made for the Games... I know its kinda blurry.)
Being a basketball wife also has its perks around the season as well. In fact this is my favorite part about being involved in the basketball program. Every Christmas we get to go to an even for children with cancer, now called "Mac's Gift." Although it breaks my heart, these children and their families are so precious. We love playing games with them and seeing their faces light up. There is nothing better than getting good news updates that their child is in remission and seeing miracles happen everywhere. Although I wish it were under better circumstances, I love seeing those sweet children. That is what Christmas is supposed to be about!
I made these little treats for Josh's teammates this year they look a little light in this picture but they are supposed to be little lumps of "coal"(recipe at the end)
We hope you all have fun preparing for and enjoying the Holidays.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and hope you remember the true meaning of Christmas.
I thought this was adorable!
OH and P.S. Look what our little guy got us for Christmas... yep so fun to clean up:)
He is our "muddy buddy"
Merry Christmas
Love,
The Sharps
COAL recipe
(I did two batches for about 60 2-3 inch lumps)
This is a great recipe for neighbors and under 20 dollars
5 cups of Rice Crispies
6 cups of marshmallows
3 tbs. of butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
1& 1/2 sleeves of Oreos(crushed)
Black food coloring
Melt the butter on low and add the 6 cups of marshmallows, vanilla and food coloring until it is the color you want it, then turn the heat up to medium.
Mix the Rice Crispies and crushed oreos.
When the marshmallows are melted mix the rice crispies mixture.
When mixed take off the burner and create your coal shapes.
Let it cool for about 15-20 min and then deliver to friends, family, neighbors, or enjoy alone!
